The Book of Revelation Chronology

  (The Revealed Text)

I. Jesus and the Church

a. Revelation 1:1-6, 9  John’s Greeting

Revelation 1:1  This is the Revelation of Jesus Christ that God revealed to Jesus so that he could tell His servants about what must soon happen. Jesus then sent His angel with this same message to His servant John.

Revelation 1:2  John testified about what he saw concerning the Word of God, and the Testimony of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 1:3  God will bless those who read and preserve this prophecy to others. And God will bless all who hear it and obey it because the time for this to happen is almost here.

Revelation 1:4  This is from John to the seven churches in Asia. Grace to you and peace from God, who was, who is, and is coming soon. And from the seven spirits who are before the throne of God.

Revelation 1:5  And from the faithful witness, Jesus Christ, who is the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of all the earthly kings. Jesus Christ loves us and washed us from our sins with His own life’s blood.

Revelation 1:6  He has made us kings and priests for God, His Father and to him is glory and power to rule for ever and ever! Amen.

Revelation 1:9  I am John, a follower together with all of you. We suffer because Jesus is our King, but He gives us the strength to endure. I was exiled to Patmos Island, because I had preached God's message and had told about Jesus.

b. Revelation 4:1-5   God’s Throne & the 7 Spirits

Revelation 4:1  I, John, saw a door that opened into heaven. A voice sounding like a trumpet said, "Come up here and I will show you what must happen next."

Revelation 4:2  I was immediately in the Spirit and I saw there in heaven a center throne with God sitting upon it.

Revelation 4:3  God was sitting upon the center Throne that sparkled like a clear diamond and fiery bright ruby. A rainbow shone around the center throne that looked like a green emerald.

Revelation 4:4  Twenty-four other thrones were in a circle around the center throne. On each of these thrones was an elder dressed in a white robe and wearing a golden crown.

Revelation 4:5  Lightning flashed and thunderous voices roared out from the center throne. Seven torches, which are the seven spirits of God, were burning in front of the center throne.

c. Revelation 4:6-11 The 24 Elders and 4 Living Creatures

Revelation 4:6  A crystal clear sea of glass was in front of the center Throne and within and around the center throne were four living creatures covered front and back with eyes.

Revelation 4:7  The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like a bull, the third had the face of a human, and the fourth was like a flying eagle.

Revelation 4:8  Each of the four living creatures had six wings, and their bodies were covered with eyes. Day and night they never stopped saying, "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is returning soon!"

Revelation 4:9  The four living creatures constantly praised the God who lives forever upon the center throne, with glory, honor, and thankfulness.

Revelation 4:10  Then the twenty-four elders knelt down and worshipped the God who lives forever upon the center throne and they laid their golden crowns before the center throne and said,

Revelation 4:11  "Our Lord and God, you are worthy to receive glory, honor, and power. You created all things, and by your will they exist and were created."

d. Revelation 10:1-2  The Angel and The Little Scroll

Revelation 10:1  Then I saw a powerful angel coming down from heaven. He was covered with a cloud and a rainbow over his head. His face shone like the sun, and his legs gleamed like columns of fire,

Revelation 10:2   He stood with his right foot upon the sea and his left foot upon the land and he unrolled the little scroll in his hand.

e. Revelation 5:1-4   The Lamb & The Seven Sealed Scroll

Revelation 5:1  God was sitting upon the center throne and I saw in His right hand a scroll that had writing on the inside and outside. It was secured with seven seals.

Revelation 5:2  A strong angel proclaimed with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the scroll and unlock its seals?"

Revelation 5:3  No one in heaven, the earth, nor under the earth was worthy to open the scroll, or even look inside it.

Revelation 5:4  I cried because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or even look at it.

f. Revelation 5:5-14   The Lamb is Worthy

Revelation 5:5  Then one of the elders said to me, "Stop crying and look! The one who is called both the 'Lion from the Tribe of Judah' and 'The root of King David' has conquered and will open the scroll and it’s seven seals!"

Revelation 5:6  Then I looked and saw a Lamb standing in the center of the throne that was surrounded by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb looked as if He had once been killed. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God, sent out to all the earth.

Revelation 5:7  The Lamb went over and took the scroll from the right hand of the One who sat upon the throne.

Revelation 5:8  The four living creatures and twenty-four elders knelt down before the Lamb. Each of them had a harp and a golden bowl full of incense, which are the prayers of God's people.

Revelation 5:9  They sang a new song, "You are worthy to receive the scroll and open its seals, because you were killed. And with your own blood you bought for God people from every tribe, language, nation, and race.

Revelation 5:10  You have made us kings and priests for God, and we will rule upon the earth."

Revelation 5:11  I looked and heard the voices of angels around the Center Throne, the Living Creatures, and the Elders. There were millions and millions of them,

Revelation 5:12  and they were saying in a loud voice, "The Lamb who was killed is worthy to receive power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessings."

Revelation 5:13  Then I heard all the beings in heaven, upon the earth, under the earth, and in the sea, offering praise together, "Praise, honor, glory, and strength for ever and ever to the one who sits upon the throne and to the Lamb!"

Revelation 5:14  The Four Living Creatures said "Amen," while the Elders knelt down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.

g. Revelation 1:8, 11a, 21:6, 22:13    The Alpha and The Omega

Revelation 1:8  The Lord God says, "I am Alpha and Omega, the one who is and was and is coming. I am God All-Powerful!"

Revelation 1:11a  “I Am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Last.

Revelation 22:13  “I am Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

Revelation 21:6b  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will freely give water from the Life-Giving Fountain to everyone who is thirsty.

II. The Seven Churches

a. Revelation 1:10-20   Jesus & The 7 Golden Lamp Stands

Revelation 1:10  The Spirit took control of me on the Lord’s day, and behind me I heard a loud voice sounding like a trumpet.

Revelation 1:11b  saying, “write in a book what you see and send it to the seven churches in Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea."

Revelation 1:12  I turned to see who was speaking to me and saw seven golden lamp stands.

Revelation 1:13  There, amidst the lamp stands, was  the Son of Man, wearing a robe that reached down to His feet and a gold cloth wrapped around His chest.

Revelation 1:14  His head and hair were white as wool and snow, and His eyes blazed like flames of fire.

Revelation 1:15  His feet were glowing like heated bronze in a furnace, and His voice sounded like the roar of a waterfall.

Revelation 1:16  He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp double-edged sword was coming from His mouth. His face was shining as bright as the sunlight.

Revelation 1:17  I fainted when I saw Him but He placed His right hand upon me and said: “Don't be afraid! I Am the First, the Last,

Revelation 1:18  and the Living One. I died, but now I am alive for evermore, and I have the keys to death and to the world of the dead.

Revelation 1:19  Write what you have seen and what is and what will soon happen after these things.

Revelation 1:20  I will explain the mystery of the seven stars that you saw at my right side and the seven golden lamp stands. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the lamp stands are the seven churches.

b. Revelation 2:1-7   The Church of Ephesus - Loveless

Revelation 2:1  Write this to the angel of the church in Ephesus: I Am the One who holds the seven stars in my right hand, and I walk among the seven golden lamp stands. Listen to what I say.

Revelation 2:2  I know what you do, including your hard work and how you have endured. I know you won't put up with anyone who is evil. When some people pretended to be apostles, you tested them and found out they were liars.

Revelation 2:3  You have endured and gone through hard times because of me, and have not given up.

Revelation 2:4  But I do have something against you! You have left your first love for me.

Revelation 2:5  Think about where you have fallen from, and turn back and do as you did at first, or I will quickly return and take away your lamp stand.

Revelation 2:6  But there is one thing you are doing right. You hate what the Nicolaitans are doing, and so do I.

Revelation 2:7  He who is paying attention must understand what the Spirit says to the churches. I will let everyone who endures eat from the life-giving tree in the center garden of God's Paradise.

c. Revelation 2:8-11   The Church of Smyrna - Persecution

Revelation 2:8  Write this to the angel of the church in Smyrna: I Am the First and the Last. I died, but now I Am alive! Listen to what I say.

Revelation 2:9  I know how much you suffer and how poor you are, but you are actually rich. I also know the cruel things being said about you by people who claim to be Jews but they are really members of Satan.

Revelation 2:10  Don't worry about what you will suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison, and you will be tested and made to suffer for ten days. Be faithful unto death and I will reward you with the crown of glorious life.

Revelation 2:11  Whoever is paying attention must understand what the Spirit is saying to the churches. Whoever endures will not be hurt by the second death.

Revelation 2:12  Write this to the angel of the church in Pergamos: I Am the One with the sharp double-edged sword! Listen to what I say.

Revelation 2:13  I know your labor and that you live where Satan has his throne. You have remained true to my name and you are my faithful witness Antipas was taken from you and put to death, but you still did not lose your faith in me.

Revelation 2:14  I do have a few things against you. Some of you follow the teaching of Balaam, causing the people of Israel to eat food offered to idols and remain immoral.

Revelation 2:15  And now some of you are following a teaching I hate of the Nicolaitans.

Revelation 2:16  Turn back from this or I will return quickly and fight against these people with the sword of my words.

Revelation 2:17  Whoever is paying attention must understand what the Spirit is saying to the churches. And to everyone who endures, I will give them the hidden manna and a white stone with a new name written upon it. No one will know that name except the ones given the stone.

e. Revelation 2:18-29   Church of Thyatira - Corruption

Revelation 2:18  Write this to the angel of the church in Thyatira: I Am the Son of God, my eyes are like flames of fire, and my feet are like bronze. Listen to what I say.

Revelation 2:19  I know everything about you, including your love, your faith, your service, and how you have endured. I know that you are doing more now than you ever done before.

Revelation 2:20  But I still have something against you because of that woman Jezebel. She calls herself a prophet, and you let her teach and mislead my servants to do immoral things and to eat food offered to idols.

Revelation 2:21  I gave her a chance to turn from her sins, but she did not want to stop doing immoral things.

Revelation 2:22  I am going to strike down Jezebel. Everyone who does immoral things with her will also be punished, if they don't stop.

Revelation 2:23  I will kill her followers and all the churches will understand that I search everyone's thoughts and feelings and I will give to each of you as you deserve.

Revelation 2:24  Some of you in Thyatira don't follow Jezebel's teaching. You don't know anything about what her followers call the "deep secrets of Satan." So I won't burden you with any other commands.

Revelation 2:25  Hold firmly to my teachings until I return.

Revelation 2:26  I will give power over the nations to everyone who endures and keeps on obeying me until the end.

Revelation 2:27  I will give to each of them the same power that my Father has given me. They will rule the nations with an iron rod and smash those nations to pieces like clay pots.

Revelation 3:3  Hold firmly to the teaching you have received and turn away from your sins. Be alert because I am returning unexpectedly like a thief.

Revelation 3:4  A few of you in Sardis have not dirtied your clothes with sin and you will walk with me in white clothes, because you are worthy.

Revelation 3:5  Everyone who endures will wear white clothes and their names will not be erased from the Book of Life, and I will tell my Father and His angels that they belong to me.

Revelation 3:6  Whoever is paying attention must understand what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

       g. Revelation 3:7-13   The Church of Philadelphia - Faithful

Revelation 3:7  Write this to the angel of the church in Philadelphia: I am the one who is holy and true, and I hold the Keys of David. I open the door that no one can close and I close the door that no one can open. Listen to what I say.

Revelation 3:8  I know everything you have done. And I have placed before you an open door that no one can close. You were not very strong, but you obeyed my message and did not deny that you are my followers.

Revelation 3:9  Now you will see what I will do with those people who belong to Satan's group. They claim to be Jews, but they are liars. I will make them come and kneel down at your feet and they will realize it is you I love.

Revelation 3:10  You have obeyed my message and endured so I will protect you from the time of testing that everyone in the world must go through.

Revelation 3:11  I am returning soon. So hold firmly to what you have, and no one will be able to take away your crown.

Revelation 3:12  Everyone who endures will be given a stable place in the temple of my God, and remain there forever. I will write on each of them the name of my God and the name of His city. Revelation 3:16  But since you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth.

Revelation 3:17  You claim to be rich, successful and without need. But you don't realize how bad off you really are. You are miserable, poor, blind, and naked.

Revelation 3:18  Buy my gold because it has been refined in fire and will make you rich. Buy white clothes from me and wear them to cover up your shameful nakedness. Buy my medicine for your eyes, so that you will be able to see.

Revelation 3:22  Whoever is paying attention must understand what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

III. The False One World Religion

a. Revelation 10:3-4    The 7 Thunders

Revelation 10:3  The angel shouted with a roar like a growling lion and Thunder roared seven times.

Revelation 10:4  After the thunder stopped, I was about to write what was said. But a voice from heaven shouted, "Keep this a secret! Do not write down these things."

b. Revelation 17:1-18  The Rise of Mystery Babylon

Revelation 17:1  One of the seven bowl angels came over to me and said, "Come here and I will show you how God will punish the shameless whore who sits upon many oceans.

Revelation 17:2  Every king upon the earth has slept with her, and her shameless ways have made everyone upon the earth drunk with her wine."

Revelation 17:3  And so with the help of the Spirit, the angel took me into the desert, and there I saw a woman sitting on a red beast. The beast was covered with names that were an insult to God, and it had seven heads and ten horns.

Revelation 17:4  The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet robes, and she wore jewelry made of gold, precious stones, and pearls. In her hand she held a gold cup filled with filthy and nasty things she had done.

Revelation 17:5  On her forehead a mysterious name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF WHORES AND EVERY FILTHY THING UPON THE EARTH.

Revelation 17:6  I could tell that the woman was drunk on the blood of God's people who had given their lives for Jesus. This surprising sight amazed me,

Revelation 17:7  and the angel said: Why are you so amazed? I will explain the mystery about this woman and about the beast she is sitting on, with its seven heads and ten horns.

Revelation 17:8  The beast you saw is the one that used to be and no longer is. It will come back from the deep pit, but only to be destroyed. Everyone on earth whose names were not written in the Book of Life before the time of creation will be amazed. They will see this beast that used to be and no longer is, but will be once more.

Revelation 17:9  Anyone with wisdom can figure this out. The seven heads that the woman is sitting upon are the seven hills and the heads are seven kings.

Revelation 17:10  Five of the kings are dead. One is ruling now, and the other one has not yet come. But when he does, he will only rule for a short time.

Revelation 17:11  You also saw a beast that used to be and no longer is. That beast is one of the seven kings who will return as the eighth king, but only to be destroyed.

Revelation 17:12  The ten horns that you saw are ten more kings, who have not yet come into power, and they will rule with the beast for only a short time.

Revelation 17:13  They are all in one agreement and will give their power and authority to the beast.

Revelation 17:14  These kings will go to war against the Lamb but He will defeat them, because He is Lord over all lords and King over all kings. His chosen followers are faithful.

Revelation 17:15  The oceans that you saw the prostitute sitting upon are crowds of people from all nations, races, and languages.

Revelation 17:16  The ten horns and the beast will start hating the shameless woman. They will strip off her clothes and leave her naked. Then they will eat her flesh and throw the rest of her body into a fire.

Revelation 17:17  God made all these kings agree together to give their power to the beast until what God’s word becomes apparent.

Revelation 17:18  The woman you saw is the great city that rules over all the  kings upon the earth.

c. Revelation 12:1-5   Israel, Satan, and Jesus

Revelation 12:3  A huge red dragon appeared in the sky with seven heads and ten horns with a crown upon each of its seven heads.

Revelation 12:4  The dragon’s tail dragged a third of the stars from the sky and threw them down to the earth. Then the dragon turned toward the woman, because it wanted to eat her child as soon as it was born.

Revelation 12:5  The woman gave birth to a Son who will rule all nations with an iron rod. The Son was snatched away to God and placed upon His throne.

d. Revelation 22:6-11  Preserve This Book

Revelation 22:6  Then I was told: These words are true and can be trusted. The Lord God controls the spirits of His prophets, and He is the one who sent His angel to show His servants what must quickly happen.

Revelation 22:7  Remember that I am returning soon and God will bless everyone who preserves the message of this book.

Revelation 22:8  I John am the one who heard and saw these things and I knelt down and began to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown it to me.

Revelation 22:9  But the angel said, Do not worship me because I am just a servant like you and I am the same as a follower, or prophet, or anyone else who obeys what is written in this book. God is the only one to worship.

Revelation 22:10  Don't keep the prophecies in this book a secret because these things will quickly happen.

Revelation 22:11  Evil people will keep on being evil, and everyone who is dirty-minded will still be dirty-minded. Good people will continue living righteously and God's people will remain holy.

Revelation 22:18  Here is my warning for everyone who hears the prophecies in this book: If you add anything to them, God will make you suffer all the terrible troubles written in this book.

Revelation 22:19  If you take anything away from these prophecies, God will not let you have part in the life giving tree and in the holy city described in this book.

e. Revelation 1:7, 16:5, 22:12, 20   Jesus is Returning Quickly

Revelation 1:7  Look! Jesus is coming with the clouds. Everyone will see him, even the ones who stuck a sword through Him. All the people upon the earth will weep because of Him. Yes, it will happen! Amen.

Revelation 13:9  If you are paying attention then understand this!

Revelation 12:15  The snake then spewed out water like a river to sweep the woman away.

Revelation 12:16  But the earth helped her by swallowing the water that poured from the dragon's mouth.

Revelation 12:17  This made the dragon terribly angry with the woman. So it started a war against the rest of her children. They are the people who obey God and are faithful to what Jesus did and taught.
