First  Peter     Perseverance through Persecution      The Revealed Translation

I Peter One   “Saved By God”

1Peter 1:1  From Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to God's people who are scattered like foreigners in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.

1Peter 1:2  God the Father decided to choose you as his people, and his Spirit has made you holy. You have obeyed Jesus Christ and are sprinkled with his blood. I pray that God will be kind to you and will keep on giving you peace!

1Peter 1:3  Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is so good by raising Jesus from death to life and has given us new life and a hope that lives forever.

1Peter 1:4  God has something stored up for you in heaven, where it will never decay, be ruined, or disappear.

1Peter 1:5  Have faith in God, whose power will protect you until the last day. Then he will save you as he has always planned to do.

1Peter 1:6  On that day you will be glad, though you have to go through many hard trials for now.

1Peter 1:7  Your faith will be like gold tested in fire. And these trials will prove that your faith is worth much more than gold that can be destroyed. They will show you will be given praise and honor and glory when Jesus Christ returns.

1Peter 1:8  You have never seen Jesus and you don't see him now. But still you love him and have faith in him, and no words can tell how glad and happy

1Peter 1:9  you are to be saved. That's why you have faith.

1Peter 1:10  The prophets told how kind God would be to you, and they searched hard to find out more about the way you would be saved.

1Peter 1:11  The Spirit of Christ was in them, telling them how Christ would suffer and would then be given great honor. They searched to find out who Christ would be and when this would happen.

1Peter 1:12  They were serving you and not themselves. They preached to you by the power of the Holy Spirit, who was sent from heaven. And their message was only for you, and even the angels wanted to know more about it.

1Peter 1:13  Be alert and sober. Put all your hope in how kind God will be to you when Jesus Christ returns.

1Peter 1:14  Be obedient like children and don't let your lives be controlled by your old desires, as they were before.

1Peter 1:15  Live Holy, as God's people should, since God is Holy and He chose you.

1Peter 1:16  God says in Leviticus 11:44, "I am the Lord your God, be holy for I Am holy."

1Peter 1:17  You say that God is your Father, but God doesn't have favorites! He judges all people by what they do. So you must honor God while you live as strangers here upon earth.

1Peter 1:18  You were rescued from the useless way of life you learned from your ancestors. But not by silver or gold that don't last forever.

1Peter 1:19  You were rescued by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, the spotless and innocent lamb.

1Peter 1:20  Jesus Christ was chosen before the world was created, but He did not come for you until these last days.

1Peter 1:21  He came to lead you to faith in God, who raised him from death to life and honored him in a glorious way. That's why you put your faith and hope in God.

1Peter 1:22  You obeyed the truth, your souls were made pure through the Holy Spirit, and you sincerely love one another. You must keep on loving with all your heart.

1Peter 1:23  Do this because God has given you the new birth through His message that lives forever.

1Peter 1:24  Isaiah 40:6-8 says, “People fade away like grass, their glory fades like wild flowers. Grass dries up, and flowers fall to the ground.

1Peter 1:25  But the Word of our God stands forever." Our good news to you is God’s word.

I Peter Two “Selected By God”

1Peter 2:1  Stop being hateful! Quit trying to fool people and start being sincere. Don't be jealous or say cruel things about others.

1Peter 2:2  Be like infants thirsting for the pure and spiritual milk of the Word that will help you grow and be saved.

1Peter 2:3  You have already found out how good the Lord really is.

1Peter 2:4  Come to Jesus Christ for He is the living stone the people have rejected, but God chose Him to bring Him the highest honors.

1Peter 2:5  And you are now living stones being used to build a spiritual house. You are holy priests, and with the help of Jesus Christ, you will offer sacrifices pleasing to God.

1Peter 2:6  Isaiah 28:16 says, "Behold! I place a foundation in Zion, the chosen chief cornerstone. Those who believe upon Him will not be disappointed."

1Peter 2:7  The stone is precious to those who believe in Him, but not to those who refuse to follow Him. They are the builders that rejected the stone that turned out to be the most important stone of all.

1Peter 2:8  They are doomed because they disobeyed God’s word and they stumbled and fell over the stone as issued by God.

1Peter 2:9  But you are God's chosen generation, a royal priesthood and holy nation, to praise God who has brought you out of darkness and into His marvelous light to proclaim all the wonderful things He has done.

1Pe 2:10  "You were once not a people but now you are God's people. No one showed mercy upon you but now God treats you with kindness.

1Peter 2:11  You are foreigners and strangers upon this earth, so I urge you not to surrender to the desires of fleshly lusts that fight against your soul.

1Peter 2:12  Always let others see you behaving properly, even though they may still accuse you of doing wrong. Then on the day of judgment, they will honor God by telling the good things they saw you do.

1Peter 2:13  The Lord wants you to obey all human authorities, such as the king  who rules over everyone.

1Peter 2:14  Obey governors sent by rulers to punish criminals and praise good citizens.

1Peter 2:15  It is God’s will for you to silence ignorant and foolish people by doing what is right.

1Peter 2:16  You have been set free, but as God's servants, don’t use your freedom as an excuse for doing wrong.

1Peter 2:17  Respect everyone and show special love for God's people. Reverence God and honor the Leaders.

1Peter 2:18  Workers, obey your managers, always show respect for them. Do this for the kind, the thoughtful and the cruel.

1Peter 2:19  God will bless you, even if others treat you unfairly for being loyal to Him.

1Peter 2:20  You don't gain anything by being punished for a wrong you have done. But God will bless you, if you suffer for doing something right.

1Peter 2:21  For God chose you to suffer as you follow in the footsteps of Christ, who set the example by suffering for you.

1Peter 2:22  Christ did not sin or ever tell a lie.

1Peter 2:23  Although he was abused, he never tried to get even. And when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he had faith in God, who judges fairly.

1Peter 2:24  Christ carried the burden of our sins in His own body. He was nailed to the cross, so that we would die to our sins and start living right. By His wounds you are healed.

1Peter 2:25  You had wandered away like sheep but now you have returned to the one who is your shepherd and protector of your souls.

                                I Peter Three “Spiritual Living”

1Peter 3:1  Wives, place your husband first. Even if he opposes our message, you will win him over by your good actions. No one else will have to say anything to him,

1Peter 3:2  because he will see how you honor God and live a pure life.

1Peter 3:3  Don't depend upon fashion like hair styles, jewelry or expensive clothes to help you look beautiful.

1Peter 3:4  Be beautiful in your heart by being gentle and quiet. This kind of beauty will last, and God considers it very special.

1Peter 3:5  Long ago certain women worshipped God, placed their hope in Him, and made themselves beautiful by placing their husbands first.

1Peter 3:6  Sarah obeyed Abraham and called him master. You are her true children, if you do right and don't let anything frighten you.

1Peter 3:7  Husbands, be thoughtful to your wife. Treat her with honor, because she isn't as strong as you are, and she shares with you the gift of eternal life. Then nothing will stand in the way of your prayers.

1Peter 3:8  Be in agreement and show concern and love for each other. Be kind and humble.

1Peter 3:9  Don't be hateful and insult people if they are hateful and insult you. Treat everyone with kindness for you are God's chosen ones and He will bless you.

1Peter 3:10  Psalms 34:12-16 says "Do you love life and want to be happy? Then stop saying cruel things and quit telling lies.

1Peter 3:11  Give up your evil ways and do right, as you find and follow the road that leads to peace.

1Peter 3:12  The Lord watches over everyone who obeys him, and he listens to their prayers. But he turns away from those that practice evil."

1Peter 3:13  Who can harm you for being eager to follow good deeds?

1Peter 3:14  Even if you suffer for doing good things, God will bless you so don’t be afraid or worry about what people might do to you.

1Peter 3:15  Set your worship to God as Lord of your life. And always be ready to humbly answer someone with respect when they ask about the hope within you.

1Peter 3:16  Keep a clear conscience so that others will be ashamed for saying evil things about your good conduct as a follower of Christ.

1Peter 3:17  It is better obeying God and suffering for doing right than suffering for practicing evil.

1Peter 3:18  Christ suffered once for our sins, an innocent person for the guilty, to bring us to God. He was put to death in the flesh and made alive by the Spirit.

1Peter 3:19  The Spirit then sent Him to preach to the spirits in prison.

1Peter 3:20  The ones who disobeyed God while He waited patiently until Noah finished building the Ark. Only eight people went into that boat and were delivered safely through the flood.

1Peter 3:21  That flood water experience was like the baptism that now saves you. But baptism is not the washing of your body but turning to God with a clear conscience, because Jesus Christ was raised from death.

1Peter 3:22  Christ is now in heaven sitting in the place of honor at the right side of God. All angels, authorities, and powers are subject under Him.

I Peter Four “Suffering Like Christ”

1Peter 4:1  Christ suffered for us in the flesh so you should also be ready to suffer as He did for this would show you have decided to stop sinning.

1Peter 4:2  And turned from your own selfish desires to obey God’s will for the rest of your life.

1Peter 4:3  You have lived long enough like the immoral people who don't know God. You followed your evil desires of drinking, partying, carrying on and worshipping disgusting idols.

1Peter 4:4  Now your former friends wonder why you have stopped running around with them, and they curse you for it.

1Peter 4:5  But they will have to answer to God, who will judge both the living and the dead.

1Peter 4:6  The good news was preached to the dead who have been punished with death, but their spirits will live on with God.

1Peter 4:7  The things of this world are coming to an end so be serious and disciplined in your prayers.

1Peter 4:8  Sincerely love one another for this will cover offensive sins.

1Peter 4:9  Cheerfully welcome people into your home and table.

1Peter 4:10  Each of you have been given Spiritual gifts from God as a service to others so that God’s grace can flow greatly through you.

1Peter 4:11  If you have the gift of speaking then preach God's message. If you have the gift of helping others then give with the strength God supplies. Everything accomplished should bring glory and honor to God through Jesus Christ, who rules forever over all. Amen.

1Peter 4:12  Don't be surprised or shocked that you are going through tests that seem like walking through fire.

1Peter 4:13  Be glad these trials make you partners with Christ in His sufferings for it will prepare you for joy when His glory is revealed to all of the world.

1Peter 4:14  Be blessed when you suffer for being a Christian for this shows God's glorious Spirit is upon you. They bring evil curses to God but you bring Him glory.

1Peter 4:15  But you deserve sufferings if you murder, steal, make trouble for others, or gossip.

1Peter 4:16  Don't feel ashamed when suffering for being a Christian. Give the glory to God.

1Peter 4:17  God’s judgment has already started and it begins with us first, the household of God, imagine how terrible it will be for those who refuse to obey His good news.

1Peter 4:18  Proverbs 11:31 says, "If those right with God are barely saved, what will happen to the ungodly?"

1Peter 4:19  If you suffer for obeying God, then continue your trust in your faithful Creator and keep on doing right.

I Peter Five “Shepherds For God”

1Peter 5:1  I write to encourage the church leaders for I too am a leader and a witness to Christ's suffering, and I will share in His glory when it is revealed.

1Peter 5:2  Watch over God’s people as shepherds. Do it willingly in order to please God, and not simply because you think you must. Do it out of desire and not for finances.

1Peter 5:3  Don't be bossy over those placed in your care, set a good example for them.

1Peter 5:4  Then when Christ, the Chief Shepherd returns, you will be given the crown of glory that never fades away.

1Peter 5:5  Young people obey your leaders. Everyone should be humble to each other for Proverbs 3:34 says, "God opposes the proud and helps the humble."

1Peter 5:6  Be humble in the presence of God's mighty power, and He will honor you when the time comes.

1Peter 5:7  God cares about what is happening to you, so turn all your worries over to him.

1Peter 5:8  Be on your guard and stay alert because your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, prowling for victims to attack.

1Peter 5:9  Resist the devil and remain strong in your faith because the Lord's followers are suffering all over the world just as you are.

1Peter 5:10  But God shows undeserved kindness to everyone. He appointed Jesus Christ to choose you in sharing his eternal glory. You will suffer for a little while, but God will make you complete in perfection, support you, strengthen you, and place you upon a firm foundation.

1Peter 5:11  God’s power and glory will be in control forever! Amen.

1Peter 5:12  Silas, a faithful follower of the Lord, helped me write this short letter. I wanted to encourage you about how gracious God really is so that you will keep on having faith in Him in all situations.

1Peter 5:13  Greetings from the Lord's followers in Rome, Babylon. They are God's chosen ones and Mark, who is like a son to me, sends his greetings too.

1Peter 5:14  Give to all who belong  to Jesus Christ a greeting of love and peace.
